Delaney Design has created a series of posters and leaflets to go in to every prison in the UK.

The material for HM Prison Service gives advice on drugs and alcohol misuse among inmates, and quotes from ex-users are featured along with their photographs.

Delaney senior designer Ian Prevett visited Winchester Prison and interviewed five prisoners. “We were rather restricted by the brief which said we had to bear in mind that some of the audience is illiterate,” says Prevett.

The London consultancy used strong colours “to liven the place up and have an impact”, Prevett adds. A “jubilant” figure, intended to symbolise someone who has kicked the habit, appears throughout the campaign.
