Splash of Paint spawns Cream

Cream Design in Reading has opened its doors for business following a breakaway by three senior staff from Splash of Paint.

Account director Helen Waring, group head Simon Robinson and senior designer Barnaby Firth moved into offices in central Reading after announcing their intention to leave Splash of Paint at the end of July.

Waring, who joined Splash of Paint at its launch in 1988, says the new group will concentrate on exploiting demand for general design and corporate identity work in the Reading and Thames Valley area. The firm will also look further afield for business as opportunities arise.

Cream’s three founding members are planning to take up equal equity in the business. The three decided to leave Splash of Paint because they all thought they had outgrown the agency, says Waring. “It’s completely amicable. I think it was expected and there is no animosity.”
