Creative Exchange event set to push China-UK design link-ups

The Creative Exchange with China conference, a meeting point for creative industry companies from China and Britain, including design consultancies, takes place on Thursday 13 March.

Key speakers on the day include Sir Michael Bichard, rector of University of the Arts London and chairman of the Design Council, alongside designer Sebastian Conran.

The day will provide designers and others working in the creative sector with an insight into how China’s creative industries are developing.

China’s director general for the Department for Cultural Industry, Ministry of Culture, Wang Yongzhang, will head a group of ten Chinese government officials and senior creative executives who are here to promote future China-UK creative joint enterprises.

Wang will give a presentation on the development of China’s cultural industries, and will discuss opportunities for – and barriers to – designers and others in China’s creative sector who want to conduct business in Britain.

Attendees so far confirmed include Think London, the London Development Agency, China Link, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China-Britain Business Council, UK Trade & Investment and Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Creative Exchange with China takes place in The Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room and Royal Festival Hall in London, SE1.
