Dunning Eley Jones wins RTE deal

Radio Telefis Eireann, the Irish public services broadcaster, has appointed Dunning Eley Jones to rebrand its young people’s programming output, The Den.

It selected the consultancy after undertaking one of the industry’s largest ever design broadcast pitches between 21 international consultancies (DW 2 June). Commissioning editor for Young People’s RTE Television, Sheila de Courcy, oversaw the pitch.

Dunning Eley Jones was chosen from a final four-strong shortlist featuring English and Irish-based consultancies, says Jim Booth, head of promotions at RTE Television.

‘It was new for us to tender and we wanted to see the full range of talent out there for the future,’ he says.

The wide-reaching pitch sparked concern among UK broadcast designers, prompting key figures to hold a series of ’round table’ meetings to tackle the problem of large-scale free-pitching (DW 9 June). The discussions are ongoing.
