Eighties-style comes up trumps for self-promotion

What is it about Top Trumps? Only last week we brought you Onetwone’s version (Diary, DW 19 November). Now the hipsters at Bristol-based Bi-Design are using the polyester cardigan-wearers’ card game to celebrate its 21st birthday. Too many misspent 1970s childhoods, we reckon.

The consultancy’s real triumph, though, is to resurrect the old cine-camera aesthetic for its ‘how we looked in 1981’ montage (pictured).

The 5 December party venue is at the Nut Headquarters in London – does it really plan to groove on down with the National Union of Teachers? One thing’s for certain: Bi-Design co-founder Carol Whitworth and her band Doreen Doreen will be havin’ it large New Romantic style.
