Jerwood prizes furniture design

THE shortlist for this year’s 15 000 Jerwood Applied Arts Prize has been announced.

The prize will this year concentrate on furniture design. “This prize is a recognition of British furniture designers’ vital contribution to the applied arts in 1999,” says Jerwood Foundation chairman Alan Grieve.

Work entered for the prize will be on display at the Craft Council’s Islington gallery from late-August to early October.

Furniture designers Jane Atfield, Robert Kilvington, Mary Little, Michael Marriott, Guy Martin, Jim Partridge, Simon Pengelly and Michael Young have been shortlisted for the award.
