NB puts North East region on the map

The North East Constitutional Convention, which is campaigning for a directly-elected North East regional assembly, has launched. The organisation aims to follow Scotland and Wales by achieving a more localised form of government for the region.

The NECC has an identity created by Gateshead design and marketing consultancy NB Group.

“We are very aware of the importance of a strong identity in furthering the aims of the convention. Because we are promoting consensus across political and sub-regional boundaries, the identity has to appeal to everyone, offend no one and be firmly identifiable with the North East,” says NECC secretary Gill Hale.

Once the “settled will” of the local population has been established the NECC will prepare a document for delivery to the Prime Minister in the autumn.
