A Thirties classic at a very Nineties price

A famous example of graphic design in the form of a film poster from the likes of movie master Saul Bass could be just the thing to brighten up a design studio.

At least that’s what the staff at Christie’s will be hoping when they auction a selection of them in March. Classics such as The Man With The Golden Arm have estimated prices of 500.

You will have to be riding high on profits from major projects to make the centrepiece of the sale part of your decorating budget. A three-sheet US version of an original King Kong poster, which is one of only four known examples, is expected to fetch a cool 50 000.
