Designer tantrums ensure total eclipse trip

As millennium mania sweeps the country, the excitement is temporarily being put on hold in preference for next month’s total solar eclipse – the first one for 72 years.

Thousands of people will make their way to northern France or south-west England to get the best views of the historic meteorological event, including staff at London design consultancy Cope & Glory.

Eight out of ten staff ‘insisted’ on taking time off to witness the eclipse in Cornwall, with one senior designer threatening to ‘leave for good if you don’t let me go’.

The partners have now also decided to join the trip, leaving a solitary staff member to answer the phones for a couple of days.
