Work by Chuck Close exhibits until 19 September.

Venue: Hayward Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, London SE1.

Designed and curated by Hannele Grönlund of the Museum of Finnish Architecture, Alvar Aalto in Seven Buildings shows until 10 October. The exhibition takes an in-depth look at key projects which illustrate Aalto’s architecture, interiors, furniture and object designs as total works of art.

Drawings and sculptures by Carmel Buckley are on show at Sleight until 10 September. The labour intensive pieces are made using orange ink on Japanese paper. Buckley is associate professor in the department of art and sculpture at the Ohio State University in the US.

Work by Philippe Starck can be seen and bought at the specialist design store Inhouse until 31 August. For You from Me will also display prototypes on loan from European manufacturers which commissioned Starck.
