GP Studio creates flexible HQ space for Magaschoni

GP Studio is working on the interiors for the new London headquarters of US-based clothing brand Magaschoni.

The new headquarters will be sited in Kensington, and will feature a ground-floor retail space (pictured), a first-floor residential space and a newly excavated basement, which will house wholesale space.

Magaschoni is based in New York and specialises in luxury women’s knitwear and sportswear. GP Studio was appointed around three months ago after a recommendation from another client, according to Gregor Jackson, managing director of the consultancy.

He says GP Studio was appointed as ’we are retail design specialists with retail architecture capabilities’.

GP Studio describes the design as ’very polished’ and ’very versatile’. Jackson says the retail element will act as ’a showcase for the brand’, adding, ’We are designing the space to be very flexible indeed.’

Jackson says he envisages Magaschoni being able to ’open up the whole space’ and use the attached garden to host events.

He adds, ’The project is as much about an architectural conversion and real-estate development, as addressing operationally the retail and wholesale functions of the business, while correctly positioning them in upmarket, fashion-forward surroundings.’

The intention is for Magaschoni to start trading from the address in early 2011. Work on the project will be phased, and Jackson says he expects work to start on site this autumn.
