Big names at seminar for new designers

Rasshied Din, Janet Fitch, Alasdair Scott of AMX Digital and TKO founder Andy Davey will be among the speakers at this year’s New Designers seminars, to be held next month at the Business Design Centre in London.

The seminars, sponsored by Design Week and chaired by DW editor Lynda Relph-Knight, will be held on 14 and 21 July as part of the BDC’s annual New Designers student showcase.

Free to design graduates and their tutors, the talks aim to provide foresight of and give advice about the “real” world. They will cover topics such as setting up in business and contracts and copyright, and will incorporate a Just the Job session organised by the Chartered Society of Designers.

New Designers is again in two parts this year. Graphics, fashion and textiles from colleges throughout the country will be shown on 13-16 July; interiors, product design and craft students get their airing on 20-23 July. For details call Melinda Shelbourne at the BDC on 0171-288 6439.
