Design House in the fast lane

Motoring group Toyota GB is attempting to introduce some spice to its showrooms with new interiors and graphics by Design House. The new look is launched today at Pioneer Park, Bristol, one of 217 UK dealers.

The format is moving away from the current style of showrooms, which consumers have perceived as dull. Revised versions will seek to be more aspirational and to create a memorable experience, being centred around the concept of imagination.

Desks, and the Toyota sales team, have been removed from the main showroom floor to allow customers to feel more comfortable. They will receive assistance only if they require it, with even the reception desk replaced by a ‘host position’. Customers for both new and used car sales use the same entrance.

Large windows allow customers to see into the showroom’s workshop area, and information on available models is displayed both next to cars and on-screen.

Large graphic panels convey emotive lifestyle messages, such as ‘climb in, take me anywhere’ or ‘go everywhere, take everyone’ in a bid to seduce customers.
