Design and advertising need to sleep together

I read with much interest David Bernstein’s recent article, Reluctant bedfellows (Private View, DW 23 March), regarding the uneasy relationship between design and advertising.

I think that the design industry, should be encouraged to forge stronger links with the advertising world.

Each of the sectors has its own strengths, as well as weaknesses, and I believe that any prejudices have evolved because of a set of wrong perceptions about one another.

We can all be accused, to some degree, of ignorance of exactly what the other does.

I believe that we should talk to each other in order to help add value and benefits to the clients we work for.

After all, isn’t that what it’s really all about.

I would, therefore, like to invite any good advertising agency to show me theirs and I will show them mine.

And I’m not bothered about going first.
