Design Sense award offers £40 000 prize

A prize of £40 000 is on offer for the Design Museum’s third annual Design Sense award for sustainable industrial design and architecture. The winner will be announced on 26 September at an event hosted by the museum.

The prize recognises products and buildings that improve quality of life, particularly concerning the environment. The 2000 prize was scooped by Swiss manufacturing company Rohner Textil for its bio-degradable upholstery fabric.

A panel of architects, designers and sustainability specialists will judge the entries.

Deadline for submissions is 25 May and entry forms can be obtained from the website at www.designmuseum.org/design sense. An exhibition of shortlisted entries will be held at the Design Museum from 4 September.

The prize is sponsored by metals group Corus.
