Plans unveiled for Dyson design school

Dyson has talked to Design Week about its plans for a design school, following Bath Council’s surprise decision to green light the project last month.

Although it is yet to receive the final go-ahead from Government, Dyson is unveiling details of the curriculum, layout and management of the school in the wake of the local council’s decision to grant it planning permission.

Open-plan labs and hi-tech studios would accommodate ‘teams’ of students, Dyson tells Design Week. Students from different disciplines would collaborate on ‘real-life’ projects.

A headteacher will be recruited at least one year before the school opens, says James Dyson Foundation manager Julia Curry, adding, ‘They will need design industry and education experience.’
