CSD to launch ‘alternative’ advisory service for clients

The Chartered Society of Designers is developing a design client advisory service as an alternative to the Department of Trade and Industry’s troubled Consultancy Brokerage Service.

“There is a lot of interest from our members and there is the feeling that something like this is definitely needed,” says CSD director Brian Lymbery, who has advised members against joining the DTI’s much-criticised Consultancy Brokerage Service (DW 7 July).

Members were consulted about the new service “so it is a different approach to the CBS. It is an attempt to avoid the bureaucracy and cost [of the CBS] but will meet the same needs better from a different emphasis”, Lymbery explains.

The service is due to be announced in the autumn.
