IDI to build a name at global design events

The Dubai-based International Design Initiative, which is seeking to boost creative industries across the Middle East, will use forthcoming global design festivals as a platform from which to promote itself.

The intention is to create a ‘presence’ at festivals to raise awareness of the IDI, which comprises projects such as an International Design Forum, says an IDI spokeswoman.

The IDI is run by Moutamarat and is being led by a Design Advisory Board. It will travel to the London Design Festival in September and potentially visit other festivals, such as Tokyo Design Week, the Venice Biennale and the World Economic Forum, next year.

The IDI’s flagship event will be an International Design Forum, which will be held in Dubai for the next two to three years, after which it could travel to other Arab-based countries.
