Science organisation The Royal Society is relaunching its website this week, with design by Synergy Communications.

“The old site had grown organically and it had become very hard to navigate. Lots of key information had got lost deep within the site. Our job was to give a professional, modern image while completely re-organising the huge amount of content,” says Synergy managing director Dianne Ceresa.

Features of the site include a Fellows Room for discussions, a daily media update of science articles, and e-mail bulletins.

The face of a different distinguished fellow, such as Sir Isaac Newton or Sir Christopher Wren, appears on the homepage each time you visit the website.

A searchable media directory of science specialists is now being discussed, along with plans to transfer some of the society’s library information to the Net.

Synergy designed the identity of the Royal Society 18 months ago.
