First prize for sustainability

In response to the news story “Design Museum starts up sustainable awards” (DW 21 May), I am writing to point out that the Design Museum’s new scheme, Design Sense, is not the “first UK award to honour the sustainability of design”.

The Civic Trust gives a special award for sustainability, sponsored by Willmott Dixon and now in its second year.

The award is given to a building or landscape project which demonstrates the best application of principles of sustainable design and construction.

This year’s winner, chosen from 69 entries from throughout the UK, was the Haven Day Centre in Watford.
