Contraception by cycle launch

Unilever subsidiary Unipath has launched a revolutionary contraceptive system with design input by Ziggurat and Pearson Matthews.

The new system, unveiled this week after a 15-year research programme, is called Persona. Positioning, name, graphics and structure of the product have been developed by Ziggurat, which has been working with

Persona’s manufacturer Unipath on the project since February 1994. Product design is by Pearson Matthews.

The system develops a personal history of a woman’s hormone cycles through intermittent urine tests. “We developed various identity routes – the technological, clinical or the natural, because the system is non-intrusive and has no side-effects,” says Ziggurat partner Adrian Collins.

“But the key theme was the personal nature of the system,” says Collins.
