Interbrand Group has strengthened its packaging design capability with the takeover of New York consultancy Gerstman & Meyers.

Interbrand’s ten-strong US packaging arm will be integrated into Gerstman & Meyers’ office “for the time being”, says an Interbrand spokeswoman. The purchase price is not being disclosed.

Gerstman & Meyers, whose clients include Heinz USA, Kellogg’s and Lipton, will apply Interbrand’s corporate typeface to its name and carry the strapline “An Interbrand Group consultancy”. It will retain its 45 staff.

“Being part of Interbrand will enable us to offer our clients a wider range of solutions to branding issues,” says Gerstman & Meyers president Richard Gerstman
