CD Partnership has created interiors and graphics for Pavone Espress, a café in Edinburgh’s Princes Square shopping centre.

Strong simple typography is combined with photography by Peter Cederling and Nathaniel Goldberg. The photographs were taken in Tuscany and Naples, and are used in illuminated graphics panels outside the café, as well as on a steel and glass back wall. The viridian green and peacock blue colour scheme is inspired by the fact that Pavone means peacock.

CD Partnership designer Dan Thomas says: “We tried to capture both the exuberant spirit of Glasgow’s Italian heritage, the wit and style of the coffee bars and cafés of 1930s and 1950s Glasgow.”

Retail design consultancy John Herbert Partnership is developing a brand and design concept for Brighton-based coffee shop operator GoodBean Coffee.

The brief was to create a complete graphic language that can be used across all elements of packaging , signage, leaflets and catering equipment. JHP has also planned and designed the retail interiors. The shop opens in September and there are plans to develop the brand regionally.
