A co-founder and partner of multidisciplinary collective Amalgam are leaving to form a new consultancy.

The new group, called Lucy or Robert, is being set up by Robert Carter and Amalgam partner Lucy Hamilton. Carter founded Amalgam four years ago with two fellow DEGW T3 directors, and four others (DW 14 January 1994).

The split is amicable and the pair will continue to work with the collective, says Amalgam retail designer Mark Simpson. He can’t say whether the two will be replaced. “People are constantly wanting to join [the 13-strong group],” Simpson says.

The aim of the duo’s move is to diversify their client base in the architecture and interior design sectors. Their new office will open on London’s King’s Road in June. They were unavailable for further comment.
