Virgin and David Lloyd have commissioned design work on two separate health club chains.

Clinic is working on a ten-strong 50m chain called Virgin Active. The first will open next March in Preston. Design details are under wraps.

Meanwhile, BDS Gibb is providing interiors and architecture for seven new David Lloyd leisure clubs. Lloyd plans to spend 100m over the next five years on his Next Generation Clubs. The company logo was also created by BDS Gibb with Lloyd’s son Scott, who is responsible for the chain.

The first club will open next March at Leith Docks in Edinburgh with two others opening in Dundee and North Stockton within the next year. The plan is to open three clubs a year.
