Refugee Week set to launch with ‘simple acts’ campaign

London graphic design and branding consultancy Bravo Charlie Mike Hotel has created the identity and supporting marketing materials for Refugee Week, which kicks off in June. BCMH senior designer and partner Mark Hopkins explains that the brief was based around a concept devised by Refugee Week. The idea underpinning the campaign is ‘simple acts’, showing that we can all make a difference to the understanding between refugees and UK-born citizens.

BCMH has produced supporting material, including a ‘simple acts’ journal incorporating ideas and images for all 20 of the suggested simple acts. The campaign will be supported by Amnesty International, the Refugee Council and Government departments.

‘There had to be a sense of immediacy and approachability with a not over-designed aesthetic,’ says Hopkins.

The graphic content, done on a pro-bono basis, includes a marque and ‘red sticky tape device’ that works across the journal and all other components of the campaign. The ‘actions’ are illustrated by Karin Åkesson.

Refugee Week runs from 15-21 June. For more details, visit www.refugeeweek.org.uk/simple-acts/
