Halifax, the UK’s biggest lender, is looking to trim down its number of design suppliers and create a formal roster.

The plan comes as Siegel & Gale reviews the Halifax corporate identity, although Halifax graphic design manager Helen Rhodes could not say when a new marque might appear.

Rhodes says the bank currently works with “hundreds” of design suppliers. She does not know how many consultancies she will whittle the roster down to.

It is “too early to say” whether there will be any branding needs following the Halifax’s acquisition of Birmingham Midshires building society, according to a Halifax spokesman. Part of the deal would see Birmingham Midshires keep its own brand for at least three years.
