Design Bridge sets up office in Amsterdam

DESIGN BRIDGE has set up an office in Amsterdam with a team of eight headed by David Rivett, chairman of the consultancy’s subsidiary Design Bridge Structure.

The Dutch office, called Design Bridge Nederland, will operate independently, although it will have access to the consultancy’s London office resources.

Steve Osborne and David Pike, formerly director and senior designer respectively at Design Bridge Graphics in London, are now based in Amsterdam as managing director and creative director respectively. The office employs four full-time designers.

“We will continue to concentrate on the same disciplines as in London – graphics, brand and corporate work – at least initially,” says Rivett. “In the longer term, we also want to introduce structure, but that has been available from day one in London.”

The consultancy had plans to form a joint venture with Dutch group Motion Creation, but an entirely new office was thought to be the “best solution”, according to Rivett. “Former Motion Creation directors Ko Steenwinkle and Kliss Barrow will be an integral part of the design team,” says Rivett. Motion Creation has ceased trading because of high overheads.

Rivett says the move to establish a permanent presence in The Netherlands was driven by the fact that many European clients “want to have closer links within Europe itself, and Holland is excellently placed”.
