Arts Council to cut staff

The Arts Council, chaired by Sir Christopher Frayling, is set to slash staff numbers at its London headquarters tomorrow, as it completes its restructuring towards a predominantly regionally led organisation.

According to a source close to the project, the cuts are likely to see staff numbers cut by 90 per cent, from 260 to fewer than 30.

A spokesman for the Arts Council confirmed an announcement was expected, but declined to comment on the likely number of job losses.
