Like a Virgin?

Just to put the record straight, I never claimed that Virgin Mobile had ‘copied’ Vodafone’s corporate colour in my Private View (DW 16 March).

I am more than familiar with the history of Virgin’s iconic branding – even the fact that the flowing marque was designed back in the 1970s by graphic artist Ray Kyte, apocryphally on the back of an envelope in a pub, where he and a few others were bouncing around a few ideas for a corporate identity.

My point was simply that Virgin moved into mobile telecoms using its existing colour palette, in much the same way that EasyGroup has.
