Glazer draws on the idea of independence

West London group Glazer has designed a new identity for the Independence Resource Centre, an information source for people with disabilities and their carers.

Located at Thameside Community Healthcare NHS Trust, the centre now has a logo of a dove breaking free of a cobalt blue square, symbolising freedom from the constraints of disability.

The centre’s manager, Stephen Garland, says he has tested reactions to the logo among users of the centre: “They liked it because it is positive and confident, without appearing patronising.”

Glazer director Ian Glazer says: “It was important that we came up with an idea that the people who used the centre could identify with, so they could feel that it belonged to them.”

The new identity has been applied to stationery, signs and literature.
