Furniture first in London’s new eatery

New 150 000 London restaurant EXXO aims to provide a backdrop to “bring contemporary furniture to life”, according to its managing director Anna Carrerra.

EXXO is designed by Frank Bothwick, partner at London consultancy Blazer Design Partnership. He was briefed to create “a place where furniture could flourish, a very different environment to any other restaurant”, says Carrerra.

“All the furniture at EXXO is different, and it’s for sale so it’ll keep changing. We want customers to feel that their table is individual.”

The 230m2 EXXO features furniture by Alexander White and the work of 20 designers from manufacturer MobilMetal. It has Philippe Starck pendant lighting, the bar is transparent and the interior is completely white so “the furniture can do the talking”, explains Bothwick.

The name EXXO derives from exposed and extraordinary.
