Allders vision is 20/ 20 interiors

Allders, the department store, has appointed London retail design and strategy consultancy 20/ 20 to design its first three dedicated town centre home furnishing shops.

The three latest “Allders At Home” stores will join 16 existing out-of-town outlets and will be the first to appear on the high street. They aim to open in York, Guildford and Kingston before April next year at former C&A premises, purchased by the group last month, before being rolled out further.

A spokeswoman for 20/ 20 says design plans are at an early stage. She says the design group is creating interiors and graphics for the three stores, but is not re-designing the Allders or Allders At Home identities.

She adds Allders At Home is aimed primarily at an increasingly wealthy 40-something female audience. “We will aim to reflect the store’s greater product variety and quality in our design work,” she adds.

In May Allders is opening a department store in the centre of Leicester, which will use 20/ 20’s designs. Allders cannot confirm whether it is seeking to appoint a design consultancy for the work.
