Designer Kelly Hoppen’s sumptuous interiors for British Airways’ First Class cabins, unveiled this week, complete with velvet, leather and walnut-effect trimmings, are bound to turn a few well-coiffed heads.

And classy chefs serving top nosh on ‘full-sized’ Wedgwood bone china dinner plates must surely beat the usual gastronomical treats on offer during most commercial flights. But at what price?

A return BA flight to New York currently costs more than £6000. We know that most designers aren’t minted, so just make sure the client pays.
