Labour revolution on the Web

The Labour Party is seeking to boost the “Labour brand” with the launch of a website designed in conjunction with Revolution.

Launched at the party’s conference this week, the initiative will exploit digital media to boost membership, provide information on policies and enable direct contact with politicians.

The site includes an e-commerce gift shop, instant membership and on-line donation features, plus a live webcast facility launched for Tony Blair’s conference speech. Downloads of all major Labour party documents and manifestos also appear.

Labour Party head of technology Rob Marchant says: “The clean, simple design will help us communicate more effectively with new audiences.

“This new website will be a very powerful campaign tool. It is part of a major advance in the party’s information and communication technology capacity and moves the Labour Party firmly into the 21st century.”
