…As RCA alumni fight it out over Art Bar design project

The Royal College of Art is shortlisting interior design proposals for its Art Bar from former students.

RCA events manager Jonathan Boyd has requested entrants to submit ‘full plans and images’, but has otherwise left the brief open.

A shortlist of three designs will be established on Friday, after which RCA students will be able to vote online for their favourite proposal.

The Art Bar’s first designer, and the man who named it, Ben Kelly, is helping to select the shortlist. Textile and wallpaper designer Sue Timney and Manchester-based illustrator Robert Shadbolt are both vying to be shortlisted. ‘We’ve had dozens of good entries so far,’ says Boyd.
