Kirby moves into mobiles

Elmwood chief executive Keith Kirby is leaving the consultancy to take up a new role as director of branding and culture at mobile telecommunications group Hutchison 3G.

The newly founded group, backed by Hutchison Whampoa, acquired a third-generation mobile licence earlier this year.

Kirby will take up the role in mid to late September. His first role will be to explore the group’s long-term name and identity plans, shedding the temporary Hutchison 3G name.

Kirby joined Elmwood in October 1999 as head of consulting, becoming chief executive early this year (DW 14 January).

Jonathan Sands is still deciding how the consultancy’s management structure will change.
