English & Pockett has promoted Danny Smit and Michael Berthon to creative directors after the group’s recent move away from Interpublic Group ownership.

Executive creative directors Darrell Pockett and Rob Machin have bought back the 75 per cent stake they sold to IPG in early 2000.

‘We decided to pull out of IPG four months ago, when we were asked if we wanted to continue the relationship,’ says Pockett.

Under IPG, E&P was known as FutureBrand English & Pockett and aligned with FutureBrand’s London office until late last year, when it was grouped with ad agency Universal McCann.
