Prisoners find key to unlock their creative potential

Angry from Tunbridge Wells will not be pleased. In a move that will break the hearts of Daily Mail readers everywhere, Berlin’s Tegel prison has driven a further nail into the tradition of back-breaking prison labour – prisoners have started designing handbags.

And that’s not all its inmates are doing in the service of the Kaiser. The cheeky bounders are also marketing black and white striped prison shirts, the kind more suitable for breaking rocks on a dusty road than sitting in a disco stirring the lemon in your umpteenth G and T.

Trainers and summer jackets have also been created. At least with all that security around there’s not much chance of any of them getting pinched.
