Strategic rethink at Blue Design

London consultancy Blue Design is ‘reviewing its options’ as an ongoing business concern following a ‘tough winter period’.

Chris Goddard, managing director at Blue, says the group is looking at merging with another design group or alternatively ‘scaling down operations’. This could involve an ‘agency sabbatical’ with a view to re-launching next year, with a revised discipline offering.

In the meantime, the consultancy will continue to work with its current clients, Rotary Watches and HIV charity Crusaid. Goddard partially blames free-pitching. ‘Some of the reasons we have lost out on work is the decision to no longer provide free-pitches and stand firm,’ he says.

‘We are now looking to join forces with a like-minded consultancy to continue providing a london base and to ensure our future survival after we get through this storm cloud.’

Blue Design launched in 2001. It was commissioned last year to rebrand European freight carrier group, Fos Logistics (DW 27 May 2004).
