New lease of life for design group Opius

London product and transport design group Opius is set to reopen as Opius Design, having folded the business because of rising property and staff costs.

The Islington design group is set to reopen for business in north London with three of its original eight employees, says Opius Design creative director Richard Mulchansingh, who is one of the designers behind the plan.

The relaunch idea follows a more optimistic trading outlook and new business wins for the group, which should enable the consultancy to grow and appoint more staff in the near future, he adds.

One of its projects includes a radical new-look business class airline seat.
