US postal service duels with movie merchandise

Serious Lord of the Rings aficionados can’t stop talking about the latest batch of limited edition blades up for sale at www.cbswords.com. The replica swords, ranging from Glamdring and Anduril to Legolas’s fighting knives, are so authentic that they have been refused carriage by the US Postal Service.

Our pick is the ‘Shards of Narsil’, a snip at $199.95, which comes with a 1.5m-long wooden display plaque set, plus closionne medallion (replica), removable hilt and parchment of authenticity signed by the designer John Howe.

‘Woah, that’s extreme!’ we hear you cry. Howe, of course, designed many of the swords featured in the movie trilogy.
