Former Judge Gill partner and RSCG Conran Design project director David Judge has set up Judge Design in Manchester.

Judge left RSCG Conran Design in March after less than a year in the post, citing disenchantment with London as behind his move back north. He then worked with architect Stephenson Bell before reincarnating himself as Judge Design.

Among his first commissions are new interiors for Liverpool’s Open Eye Gallery and for the headquarters of film editing and resource centre Mersey Film and Video. Judge is also designing an extension for fashionable Manchester club Sankey’s Soap.

Judge stated in March that he didn’t want to set up a consultancy again but says his change of mind came because he “was being inundated with offers and it was too tempting”. However, he is not aiming to take on staff: “I don’t want this to get too big,” he adds.
