Allied Irish Bank is piloting a new retail format in its Dublin branches, designed by Allen International.

A revised modular system has been created for easy adaptability, and could be rolled out to 300 Irish branches, plus overseas outlets, if it proves successful.

Allen International began working with AIB after a three-way pitch last year. The two unnamed rival consultancies specialise in corporate identity and retail respectively, confirms an Allen International spokeswoman. “Our holistic approach won us the job,” she adds.

Two pilot branches, in Malahide and University College Dublin, feature a “meeter and greeter” to direct customers past “accessible” display units to the rear of the branch.
