Sappi to support causes with grants of £50 000

Sappi Fine Paper Europe has launched a global campaign to promote social awareness through graphic design. The project has been branded and implemented by London design consultancy BCG Communications.

Ideas That Matter, which was launched last Thursday, challenges designers in Europe, North America and South Africa to create printed communication campaigns for worthy causes they wish to support. Grants of £50 000 will be available to realise each of the concepts.

BCG senior designer Simon Mundy says the campaign has been given a “distinct pan-European branding” aimed primarily at the design industry, including individual designers, in-house teams and students.

“We felt this type of campaign deserved a restrained approach. The direct honest copy, by itself, is enough to provoke a personal and memorable response. The nature of this initiative is something most designers will feel very passionate about,” claims Mundy.

Sappi corporate communications manager Craig Halgreen adds: “BCG has worked very closely with us to develop a campaign which clearly expresses our genuine commitment to encourage designers to freely donate their time and talents in promoting awareness for worthy causes.”
