Barclays is trialling a Conran & Partners-designed interior format, which could act as a template for a modernisation of its estate of retail banks. It will now assess feedback and the effect on turnover, ahead of a decision next year regarding the extent of a roll-out.

C&P has been working with Barclays for 18 months, introducing a more ‘modern, professional’ environment, according to Conran & Partners director Paul Zara. The design has been trialled in the bank’s Woking, Harrogate, Leamington and Chiswick branches.

Window advertising in these sites has been removed and replaced by a moving LED display in the bank’s corporate blue. Contemporary furniture and blue glass have also been introduced.
