Together Design gives a bird in the hand to online luxury crafts boutique Miratis

Together Design has created the identity for new online craft boutique Miratis. The site will sell luxury handmade products from contemporary designer-makers.

The consultancy was appointed in July after a two-way credentials-led pitch, and was briefed to create a visual identity that conveyed a ’sense of luxury and intimacy that would appeal to the discerning consumer and also reflected the values of Miratis – provenance, sustainability and authenticity’, says Miratis founder Lisa Harrison.

Together created a hand-drawn marque, which is both a bird and a hand. Consultancy creative director Katja Thielen says, ’We knew a typeface wasn’t enough as it could be any other luxury brand. We chose the hand because it’s all about the making.’

A ’soft’ typeface was chosen, that would be approachable and would stand out from the bird logo without competing with it, says Thielen.

The website, which is due to launch at the end of November and has been built by Web Kitchen, features the same white and ’precious’ purple palette of the logo. A large banner features high-quality photographs of products available from the boutique and a pattern made using the bird and hand motif.

The identity will also be seen on the products’ packaging, including tissue paper, and on information cards about each designer-maker.
