Congratulations to Euan Webster, 25, a designer at Landor Associates who’s won the British award for the BP Young European Artist of the Year. This year’s theme was road safety, and Euan’s entry uses a picture of an intravenous drip. ‘The only time you see one of these is when you have a serious accident. I thought it was an appropriate medium to show the numbers of annual road deaths and injuries in Britain,’ he says. Euan will go on a seminar in Istanbul this October, together with the winning designers from each European country.
The 30 shortlisted designs for this year’s Loewe Craft Prize will go on display at the museum this May, and the overall winner will be awarded €50,000.
The shortlist of 200 illustrators has been whittled down from over 3,000 entries, and will go on display at Somerset House in June.
