The Harvey Nichols Group is poised to appoint a design consultancy to create interiors for its forthcoming site in Dubai, which is set to launch in September 2005.
Four groups, believed to be Four IV, Gregor Partnership, HMKM Design Consultants and Parisian group Christian Biecher Associates, are in the running.
‘The Dubai store is currently being pitched for. There are four groups that we’re working with, and we will be making an announcement in September,’ confirms Harvey Nichols’ commercial director Patrick Hanly.
The 11 000m2 site, which will open in partnership with the Dubai-based Al Tayer Group, will be Harvey Nichols’ second extension outside the UK. The first opened in Riyadh in 2000, and a third, to be designed by Christian Biecher Associates, is set to launch in Hong Kong in September 2005.
The high-end fashion retailer is also looking to open licensed sites in North America, the Far East and emerging European markets.
Hanly says smaller stores in UK ‘target cities’, such as Dublin, Newcastle, Bristol, Cardiff and Nottingham may also be in the pipeline, stocking mostly own-brand products and incorporating café areas.
