Shades of trouble for Next

American sunglasses manufacturer Oakley has issued two writs against Next, the UK high street retailer, alleging infringement of registered designs.

The writ concerns a range of Next sunglasses which Oakley says resembles its e-wires brand. Oakley is seeking an injunction to stop the alleged infringement, and an inquiry into damages.

The US group confirmed that the writ had been issued, but said: “There is no litigation at this stage.” Next was unable to comment on the dispute.
